I am NOT a musician. I am NOT a music professional (critic) of any kind. I do NOT claim to be any of these things. I do NOT claim to be anybody important or knowledgable. I just want to promote Christian music that I like. I AM a life-long listener to all kinds of rock music. When I was in the 6th grade, I bought my first albums : Led Zeppelin 1 and In The Beginning by Vanilla Fudge, along with Ultimate Spinach. That last one shows that I don't always pick winners. I still have the album though because I love the song Funny Freak Parade! Vanilla Fudge veterans Carmen Appice and Tim Bogart are still 2 of my all-time favorite musicians. My daughter first kicked in my wife's womb at one of their concerts! Maybe that's why my daughter is so talented musically, as is my wife. A grand piano sits in our front room, well worn, with an old 6 string stashed underneath. My wife has played in a local Christian band herself and my daughter has sung backup on a studio-recorded CD. Me, I'm just a music junkie ;-) I listen to all the songs sent to me legally on CDs. How do I review them? 1) I listen. 2) I write what I think. That's it. If a band asks to be reviewed here, I'll give them a thorough listen. However, if I don't care for the band for any reason, I'll not post a review. A band that I don't care for may reach a lot of people with the gospel in ways no one else can. Who am I to put them down just because their music isn't to my taste? All these band members deserve a lot of credit. Being a Christian artist in front of the whole world means bucking society, profit, fame, and lots of perks that might be had if they turned their often considerable talents to mainstream music. I applaud them one and all.
